
Qingdao High-tech Industrial Development Zone
a) Basic Information:
In November 1992, the State Council approved the establishment of the Qingdao High-tech Industrial Development Zone (hereinafter referred to as Qingdao High-tech Zone) with a planned area of 9.8 square kilometers. In June 2006, the State Council approved the expansion of the high-tech zone in the northern part of Jiaozhou Bay by 9.95 square kilometers.
Guided by the scientific development concept and implementing an independent innovation strategy, Qingdao High-tech Zone adheres to the development direction of high-end leadership, intensive development, and excellent ecology. It has formed an island chain spatial development pattern of "one core, two belts, four island groups, and multiple areas" in the northern area of Jiaozhou Bay, constructed Qingdao's Greater Bay Area technology innovation system, become the hub of the city's scientific and technological innovation, and formed a sustainable and benign development model. It aims to build an innovative bay area leading to the world and strive to create an internationally first-class ecological science and technology new city.
b) Main Industries:
Qingdao High-tech Zone focuses on the biopharmaceutical industry, a growing industry with high innovation, and targets innovation drugs, high-end medical devices, rehabilitation medicine, and other subdivisions of the industry. It has introduced more than 150 R&D and industrialization projects, including the China National Pharmaceutical Group East China Base. There are 10 provincial-level or above innovation platforms (R&D centers) of leading industries already built or under construction in the zone, with nearly 500 market entities in the biopharmaceutical industry. Qingdao High-tech Zone has also been approved as a national Torch Qingdao Marine Biopharmaceutical Characteristic Industry Base, ranking eighth in China's biopharmaceutical industrial park environmental competitiveness.
c) Enterprise Situation:
In 2021, five new municipal-level or above new R&D institutions and 25 municipal-level technological innovation centers were newly recognized. 93 industrial enterprises with a scale of more than 72% have established research and development centers. The support for enterprise innovation funds throughout the year was 170 million yuan, with an increase of 70%. There are 404 high-tech enterprises and 552 national science and technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises. The investment in science and technology research and development has surpassed 1.7 billion yuan, with an increase of 56%, and the number of patents has reached 2,200, an increase of 55%.
